Producer, DJ, promoter as well sound designer and engineer, Hawkan’s fingerprint is found on each layer of his art from start to finish. His desire for sonic perfectionism through years of technical development disguises itself as intuition; an identifying particularity. However, Hawkan’s work isn’t esoteric for the sake of being so and doesn’t solely comfort itself through his use of sound exploration, but rather provokes emotional introspection as much as it immerses the listener in his universe. With an important part of his path found in the hypnotic techno scene in Brussels, Hawkan has found a fitting platform to craft this sound. A Belgian native at the crossroads of Europe, his inspiration stems not only from a wide range of music genres, but artforms as well. Driven by curiosity resulting in constant self-education, Hawkan’s projects change with time and with increasing interest in fields unrelated to music. With an eye inside and out of his home country, he has booked renowned international artists to his club nights as well as promising local acts. With his work and interests, it comes as no surprise that he has developed an attachment to collaboration with artists of other fields to create a shared product, unique in every instance. Evolution being central to his identity in the details as much as in the big picture of his artistic career, Hawkan’s practices find cohesion in their search for the ultimate sensorial experience.
