The sounds shape the environment, which is the surrounding world, what surrounds us and what, strictly speaking, we should call 'encirclement'. As Eugenio Trías says, environment would be the fence within which a living being that inhabits it settles. Inhabiting refers to that relationship with the fence that acts on the inhabitant as both a spatial and sound envelope. Inhabiting implies habit, that is, custom, the inertial par excellence, and it is easier to break linguistic or figurative-iconic habits than environmental habits such as those promoted by architecture or music.
