With Van's new release “A Piece of Mine” on Khoros Records, he wanted to move closer to something more honest and more personal. This is not a release built around concepts or ideas that try to explain themselves. It’s something simpler than that. It’s a reflection of fragments / thoughts, emotions, moments translated directly into sound. Khoros Records has always been a space that embraces depth and introspection, and returning to the label feels natural. The direction remains rooted in hypnotic techno, but this time the focus shifts inward. Instead of building towards big moments or obvious climaxes, the tracks evolve slowly, almost like a continuous state of mind. Repetition becomes a tool, not for intensity, but for immersion. The sound design plays a central role here. Layers are subtle, constantly moving but never overwhelming. Small changes carry weight, and silence or space is just as important as rhythm. The grooves are steady and driving, yet restrained, allowing the atmosphere to breathe and unfold in its own time. There is no rush in this release, everything exists exactly where it needs to be. This is not a release designed for peak-time impact or immediate reaction. It belongs to late hours, to moments of introspection, to environments where the listener is willing to go deeper rather than faster. It can exist both in a club context and in a personal listening space, but its real strength lies in its ability to create atmosphere rather than demand attention. “A Piece of Mine” is exactly what the title suggests. It’s not about proving something or following a direction. It’s simply a piece of Van Morph's existence, expressed through sound, left open for whoever is willing to connect with it.
