Formaviva was born in a small rural town in Slovenia. In the oppressed 60s, the only possible exposure to art was an array of impressive metal sculptures, made by artists both local and international, to the industrial soundtrack of the iron factory where the artworks were built. Growing up in such an environment of prejudice, in a time of limited hope and vision, grants one a special gift: a pure and authentic filter of humanity. 'Samorastnik' is a Slovenian word for an outlier, a person who is brave enough to choose the steepest path in life, where everything relies on their own talent, fearlessness, and eternal fire for re-shaping the world. These 'survivors' form the heart of Formaviva. MMali personifies the youngest child of the Formaviva team, with the special ability to absorb all the best traits of his Forma brothers and sisters. Over the course of time MMali compiled all those skills and developed his own distinct sense for musical composition, based on the broad horizon of musical genres that shaped his ear and his heart from childhood onwards. His debut for the Forma podcast represents his steady progress, which correlates with Dieter Ram's logic, "less is more." His minimalist set, composed with a deft understanding of layering and depth, is dedicated to those whose attention to detail exists at the highest level of musical perception. A perfect start to a weekend of self-exploration.
