Our podcast series continues, this month’s story is told by Zemög. Co-founder of Matteria collective, Jose is a talented producer from Pereira, a small capital in the middle of the mountains of the Colombian “Eje Cafetero”. Very influenced by the roots of his country, he had developed a precisely defined technique combining organic, tribal and deep sounds. ‘ Conceiving sound implies knowing it, recording it, manipulating it and seeking a purpose with it. In my life all the projects are directly linked to sound art. I have had the opportunity to record direct sound throughout most of my country and I have used a lot of that recorded material to generate textures and grooves in my compositions. Both the music I produce, as well as the mixes I do live, tend to find a generative, meditative and minimalist purpose in changing tempos, always looking for the sweet spot of bodily disinhibition and mental ecstasy. ‘ We hope you’ll enjoy this beautiful ride with Zemög.
